Puzzle and I have gone to the Hollywood Farmer’s Market on several of the last Sunday’s. It’s a wonderful treat, and a beautiful thing to eat delicious organic locally grown produce, and bring some home each week. We have several photos of the deliciousness of it all… they would make for some good banners.
BFF and I are thinking of starting another photoblog. The last one we did went really well, but the functionality and execution could be done better. We’re tossing around some ideas for locations (Wordpress vs. Pixelpost), names, themes… (if we need one?) that sort of thing.
I’ve also started practicing a LOT of Scrabble. The iPad has a BEAUTIFUL app, and when it comes home each night (Puzzle takes his iPad to work of course!) I jump on it almost instantly. If you’re my FaceFuck friend, you should start playing me some Scrabble!! MOM! Cough cough… I’ve started one with you, nudged you, invited you, it’s your move… I think playing it online in FB isn’t as fun as the iPad, so I wait until I have it, but it’s nice because the interwebs connects it all together all neat and stuff… but you have to search for it on FB, as far as I can see… ?? Anyway, besides getting my ass wiped with the floor by Culver City Scrabble Nerd Champ, I would love to play some other people! It’s good practice so that Elfmum doesn’t think I’m so dumb… I seem to always draw vowels every time I go over there to play.
Speaking of ElfMum, she is quite something. We have a pretty exciting project steaming up that may take the next 18-24 months I’m guessing, and once we develop the Log Line, I will let you guys in on it… maybe. It’s so new and fresh, I may have to sit on it a little longer. Tease Tease!
OH! Hollywood House is in the contract faze!! WOW! And to think that is why I got moved out here by Mr. Boss himself… so much has happened since then. After the negotiations go through, they expect to start pitching it to networks before the end of the year. I think the idea is getting a little tweaked, and they may have to shoot some more scenes… which means I’ll have to edit some more scenes…
On the job front, the website traffic is up 50%, which is really great for investors to see… social media is WORKING (so cool!!) I’ve got lots to do all the time… In fact, I’m totally not working right now so that I can type this instead because it’s that kind of day… (Friday)… not that Weekends mean anything to me, I work during those too. But that is why we’re succeeding! The team is absorbing this as a lifeline, which it is, and the new site is set to launch in 8 weeks. YEAH!!! I can’t wait to see it… since I designed it, with Boss’ Son and Culver City friend directing the functionality… ok I really got to get some new nicknames for a few of you… I’ll stew on that… Anyway, new site, new stats, great analytics, successful SEO… it’s all working and it’s very exciting… I honestly feel Puzzle and I have a lot to do with it… moving here for Hollywood House, getting into Buzzine, introducing Culver City friend… and it’s like a chain reaction really… it was already started when we were here, but it’s us that triggered the change from hobbyists into world media domination… and now we’re all working so well together it’s so fun.
Be careful what you ask for.
Also, be VERY specific for what you ask for… because if you want it bad enough, it usually comes true…
I started a list of things I want and taped it to my wall next to my computer monitor, since we moved in here (December) to this apartment… 6/13 things have been crossed off… Not bad!!
Just for fun:
Bed (we moved here in a car in 3 days, so yeah… no bed)
Desk
iPhone 3Gs (okay, I need to upgrade this)
dining room table
Couch/Chair
Beagle (to be moved from Colorado)
$1,o00,000
backyard Christmas lights
patio furniture
butcher block
iMac
Fulltime Paying BUZZjob
Edited Reality Show Successfully Purchased
And the last two are VERY VERY close…
Do you have a list?? I want to know. What is your chain reaction in your life? Did you get what you asked for… I mean… really? I bet you did.
Okay, this Nakul Dev Mahajan isn’t going to edit itself. It’s a Bollywood kind of day!
Husband gets up and goes to work. Wife stays home and cleans and works from home. Dog barks and poops. Wife and Husband become KCRW Star Members to support their most favorite listener supported radio station. Husband and Wife go to ElfMum’s with Boss’ Wife and our TV Editor to start a new thing called, “Old Broad Learns New Tricks” which has lots of potential to be hilarious.
Last night Puzzle and I had a toast to the next level. We reflected on where we were a year ago and what we were doing: Puzzle had just gotten the CFO fired and was testifying in a deposition, while the remaining of us starting having 5 o’clock cocktails in the owner’s office who was a new man because of it. We were listening to My Morning Jacket’s Touch Me I’m Going to Scream, Pt. 2 Over and over as we got to know each other really well, pondering our future together. I was absolutely loathing my job, but liked the part where I came to work at 4, had a cocktail at 5, everyone went home, and I used 3 computers to do my lists of jobs until midnight alone in a big building. We began speaking of something “else” and got our wish in October when we were fired and took a road trip and then everything changed.
And here we are. The end of numerous visitors since February. Puzzle’s kid just left last night, he was here for ten days. That was extremely difficult for me this time, as we all learn to play nice together, and I try not to remember what that was like for me at age 9. At least my mom wasn’t as terrible as his is, but still, a broken home is a broken home… and that in itself is heart wrenching. Boys are different than girls though. And he loves his Daddy, and he really likes me a lot. It will take some time, but I think we’ll get used to each other. Again, I learn patience.
I’ve been really craving the smell of Fall. I realized I’ve been in Cali for nearly 10 months now, it’s been nearly the same type of weather the entire time. I do like having the weather not be an issue for things, it doesn’t get in the way, and it’s not a “Well, what is the weather going to be like?” It’s not even a thought here. That is weird… but reliably nice. But the SMELL of fall is something else. I booked a trip to see my to-be 13 year old sister the end of September to help celebrate her into her teenage years, and also in hopes of some Fall smells. It will be really good to come home for a few days.
Puzzle and I are planning on coming home also for Christmas, and then next year for Thanksgiving. Next year (year 33) for Christmas/Birthday, we’re going to NOT celebrate Christmas… and this was his idea… celebrate MY birthday instead, and someplace nice… like Santorini! It’s been my absolute goal forever to go to Santorini and take photographs of cats on white walls with blue domes and blue seas behind. I will do this some day! We’ve set a goal for a year and a half-ish from now! yaya!!
Having a 5D is proving very useful and lots of fun as expected. Buzzine is still in investor hunting phase, but new negotiations for us have taken place, and I’m officially hired help so to speak. Buzzine lost Puzzle as a full timer, but not forever. He can now get us stable financially in other ways, as he got his job for Abel Cine Tech selling gear (full benefits good pay great job he loves) and ironically will get to work with his BFF and their company, Createasphere, who we were freelancing for them anyway! With these two other companies in cahoots, and when Puzzle is able to do so, he’ll still help out Buzzine hopefully with new exciting gear to demo. Lots of big circles here coming together on our personal end. I was also hunting for freelance work, and have been pretty steady from Machinima still. I’ve made some friends over there, other than the ones I already has working there, and several of their departments (up to 3 now) have used me and like me. They book me a week or more ahead of schedule, and this is a nice morale booster. Another company… a company too similar to Buzzine, was a company I had forgotten I sent out a resume to a while back, got back to me… YoungHollywood.com whom ironically Culver City friend (I may have to rename these people) sent me a link to their shitty video edits of famous people a day before they wrote to me asking me may availability. I wanted to say yes, but this isn’t Machinima, this is something too similar to Buzzine… and so I had to see if I could, conflict of interest… I don’t want to go do GOOD work for the Enemy so to speak… you know? And so Culver City friend talked it over with Boss, in addition to overall Buzzine ambition and morale, and they struck me a new deal… because they know I need money to survive, and they know I love and my heart and executive role is with Buzzine, decided I get rent for FREE now, and I have to say NO to the enemy’s freelance job offer. YEAH! I’m worth something! So that helps A LOT!! This is what happens when you live in the barracks of Buzzine… They can’t pay you YET, but they can negotiate some other offers. Free Rent in LA!? FUCK yes. Let me rephrase that… Free Rent in the Hollywood Hills???!!
Working with The Elves is better than ever. I love these guys so much. It’s different to grow up admiring them of course, and it’s not even a thought any more as we take care of each other’s dogs and go out for Pho lunch. They are genuinely my friends, and family, and great admirers of ME! We’re all in this together, the battle of the Buzzine… we’re so close. It’s very exciting, and the foundation, infrastructure, paper trails, new website… it’s all coming together.
Speaking of which I have two videos to edit today.
A year ago I had 7-10 ForRent.com videos to “edit” which was only adding a ken burns effect to still photographs set to shitty music.
Today I have Bollywood’s Aamir Khan who talks about his new movie Peepli Live, and the other video is a Michael Cera & Jason Schwartzman Junket for their new movie: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. REAL video, Real People… Puzzle has a job with benefits, I have a job that is earning us a free place to stay that will evolve into me being an executive managerial independent wealthy girl someday, and Percy has very clean teeth (Thanks mom!) and is a little depressed about the balls… or lack of.
Oh! Lots to write about! Doggie Chicken at Birds... Visiting Singer in Kaua’i, Expensive camera fixes post trip, Red Carpets, The Man in Black Interview featuring Jacob, Pool Parties, Two freelancing jobs in one day, Our P90X lifestyle, E3 Expo, living among the Elves… and always the pending Buzzine updates.
Because I’m terrible at keeping an updated blog, it’s hard for me to even feel motivated to spit it all out into one. I definitely OWE you bigtime at least with the Doggie Chicken photos. They aren’t on this computer, and the photos that I took during Doggie chicken are on the other computer… OH!! But wait, I am on the Mac laptop (in bed next to my knitting) and they are on the iMac in the other room… Thanks to the amazing Finder in Mac OSX I can just login remotely and drag them into this compter from there! Gawd I love being a NERD. Now if we just had Fiber, things could travel faster in the invisible land of wifi.
update…. I kept crashing my computer opening too many raw 5d files at once! then I would get busy and forget… anyway here are some great Doggie Chicken photos mixed with some lovely artsy photos. Taken by both Puzzle and I. Oh, we shot Mono setting.
I get this amazing magazine from Culver City Friend, because he receives two copies. It’s the LA Magazine. I was reading it, and it was the Animal issue and it talked about pet friendly places to take your _____ (dog, cat, bird, snake etc…) and it mentioned a restaurant that is right down the hill from where we live… it’s called Birds. The owner of Birds is a dog lover, and the outside eating area/porch is completely dog friendly. When I read this, I told Percy he was going to go get to try some Doggie Chicken with a side of LA’s finest tap water. When we went there were SEVERAL other dogs!!! We took some photos in the Mono mode on the 5D (black and whites!)
When Singer decided to go do WWOOF in Hawai’i I gave him as much of a promise as I could that I would do my best to make it out there… somehow. That was WAY before I even moved to Los Angeles!! And it all worked out, that I indeed got to go. YEAY!! We had such an amazing time. He was on the end of his trip after many arduous sweaty hours working on farm, learning great life tricks and lessons from many souls, healing from several unfortunate wounds, and sadly cutting his trip a month short, after only being there for three months. Island Time is something to treasure in itself, so leaving is sad for everyone. We decided to make his last week, and my well earned vacation, a great trip!! We did it camping style!! Go hippies!
Hawai’i is exotic, especially Kaua’i. I still need to go back and do the Kalalau Trail which I fully intend on doing at some point in my life. Puzzle and Singer will join me, as they too, feel it is something to conquer. Kaua’i is indeed the most beautiful place I have ever ever seen. The best way, if you’re hard core like Singer and I, to enjoy it is to camp! It’s SUPER cheap, and you can just live in the earth and the sand, and roll around like the Beagle and love it up! We rented a car, stayed at the Beach House Hostel the first night, and camped the remaining six nights all over the island. Only one night did we stay at the same place. Every night was on the beach, or nearly on it. The best place was the Polihale State Park… a local favorite and MAJESTICAL. Yes, I use this word because it is true. We snorkeled, swam in the ocean most days, ate amazing papaya everyday, picked up some hitchers who introduced us to the last remaining natural spring on the island (Singer is now a seasoned hitcher after his 3 months there, so we returned the favor by helping some great people out) where we dumped out our chlorinated water and filled up with some amazing FRESH water, and got super super tan. We listened, chased and yelled at chickens, We drank beer, talked about how amazing the sunsets are and how even the islanders/natives STOP what they’re doing as if the sun says, “I’m going to set now, please watch.” We took a sunset boat cruise and saw the green flash! I won’t mention what happened to our cameras. (I get it back tomorrow from Canon good as new) We took THE MOST AMAZING Helicopter ride!!! This was the highlight of our trip. By this point FOUR of our cameras had failed, one of them even being a FILM camera… We took it as a sign to put away the technology and use our eyes and hearts to fully ingest this epic moment. It was just for us, and it was the most amazing beautiful thing I have ever seen. I nearly cried from its beauty, no joke. Nothing could ever be better than this! It was hard to leave. OH, but I will be back. I always go back. Kaua’i is my favorite island!
Puzzle has been doing lots and lots of red carpets! Since the 5D was in the shop (weep), we borrowed a 7D (meh) to do the Jacob/Man in Black Interview. If you guys feel you’re out of the loop on these things, go ahead and “Like” Buzzine on Facebook. Then you’ll be sure to stay posted on what is happening with our “BuzzScenes” which is what we’re calling this style of shoot/show/edit pieces. I have yet to finish the LOST interview, sigh… I need more time! More TIME Marty! Wait, is that a real Back To The Future Quote or did I just make that up? It’s nearly finished though, so it will be posting soon. Somehow, beacuse Team Buzzine ROCKS MY WORLD, And Culver City Friend knows people and The Boss knows how to get people, we got BOTH the Man in Black (Titus Welliver) and Jacob (Mark Pelagrino) to do an interview… Together. It was amazing!! We were really proud of ourselves. But, let’s face it, I am working with the REAL thing here. Anyway, stay tuned for that in the next week. Puzzle is cutting the Toy Story 3 Red Carpet right now, We currently have True Blood Season 3 Red Carpet up on Buzzine now, and before that was The Karate Kid. Tomorrow he’s shooting Cyrus Red Carpet Premiere. WOW! It never ends. Who’s going to edit all this???
Especially since we got TWO freelance jobs in one day last week. Thanks to our friends who recommended us, we happened to get dumped on all in one day. Attention this is about to get REALLY NERDY: The Creatasphere gig for AJA Kona 3 Card “How to Install” and the “How to use Smoke” tutorial came out of my new computer baby. The same night six other pieces for Machinima also came out of my computer for a nice chunk of change just in time for the unemployment to run out. Thanks to my hard efforts with Machinima, they invited me again to help their team this time at E3!! E3, for those of you who aren’t major gamers, stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo and takes place every year here in LA. It’s like NAB for people who play video games, and it’s HUGE. I mean HUGE. It was a lot of fun. I basically worked at Machinima’s booth editing content on site as it came in from interviews on the floor for their show called “Inside Gaming Plus” so anything you see on their site for that, there is a 1/3 chance I edited it. They are the third most viewed YouTube channel with over 1 Billion views, and a great time and team to work with. I got paid to go to E3 basically. SUPER fun! I didn’t play many games, because I myself, am not much of a gamer, but it was SO FUN to experience this and see what E3 is all about since I’ve been hearing about it since 1999.
And I leave you with this… (living with the Elves deserves its own entry)
Puzzle mentioned to me before I left for Hawai’i, “I’d like to start doing the P90X, and I’d like you to do it with me.” Now he and I’ve always talked about gearing up for the “end of the world” and how if (big If I know) it ever happened, we want to be in shape. Like in War of the Worlds how they have to fucking RUN and escape and survive… We want to be those people that survive. Those people need to be in FIT top condition. P90X gets you there. Google it, watch the movies on YouTube… you betcha we are doing it!
Today is day 3. It’s fucking intense man, and we are sore. Since we’re uber nerdy, we downloaded everything off the internet (yay torrent) and found supplements for their pricy supplements that should do the trick, got some cheap weights off craigslist… I mean we do it like SMART, and don’t pay anybody for their trendy fad, we get serious and we do it our way. We had our BMI’s read for free at the Vitamin Shoppe and I am super fat, like 30% of me, gross! On the printout it says this is “poor” yeah… did it see my bank account to know this? No, it didn’t… I’m just overweight man! Anyway, we want to be fit and trim and buff, and we’re doing it P90X style. So far, the “DVD’s” (ours are files on a computer that we hook up to the flatscreen) are super fun, Tony is great and hilarious and being this vulnerable and RAW and FAT with my Puzzle Piece is quite enjoyable as we conquer our FAT together.
If I’m going to get that Kalalau Trail done, I need to be in FIT shape to do it.
And with that… I need to go do tonight’s workout… Arms and Shoulders and Abs X… or something. Then a Recovery drink. Then a smile and a sweaty hug.
I’ll post the photos later, don’t you worry… I’ll post this now though so you have something to read.
Tonight is Friday and there are some exciting things on the front. I’m also adjusting to a whole new life of orderly conduct, responsible Puzzle, iPad research, 5D & a future Elfondaman visit coming up on Sunday for Boss’ wife’s birthday!
Tonight we’re off to see an old ManiaTV! friend for his birthday! It will be so good to see some old friends and hang out and let loose. It’s been pretty stressfull over here in the hills! I’m off to the “West Side” as they say here in LA.
Boss had a huge meeting today for Hollywood House… yes, remember that? Even the William Morris people said the reel was good! WHOA man! Good stuff (ahh shucks, I’m blushing). Some biggie that puts together shows like Project Runway and The Biggest Loser was in the meeting and they are very interested in HH… I’m not sure which direction things will go in, but Boss was VERY happy and excited and wants to buy a new fancy shirt. I’m guessing it will sell, and the money will go towards funding Buzzine (and feeding us). YAY! But then again, this is LA and anything can happen. These guys see 100 sizzle reels a week however, and they specifically said how much they liked this one.
Did I just get my famous card in the mail? NO! But I am honored that a good response was had by something I had a part in cutting. Or did cut, actually. It’s the TEAM that makes things wonderful though! I had so much help… I mean… just ask James Cameron how he did Avatar… LOTS of help.
I’m working on a new reel now, actually… the sizzle for the financial power points to sell Buzzine. This one is only 60 seconds and put to a Passion Pit song called the Reeling (just for you Becca!) which is working out quite nicely. I REALLY need Motion to arrive so I can animate a lot of these sequences into something really swell, which should start Tomorrow.
I added some new photos to the header of this page… you likey? Makes me really miss BFF’s sweet sweet little girl a lot a lot, and really greateful for all the wonderful family, friends and experiences I am so lucky to have.
Maybe when I get to Elfmondaman’s on Sunday I’ll actually be able to say something? hahah… yeah right. This will be my fourth time at their home, and at least probably some regular recognition going to happen now… that is pretty cool. I honestly don’t know what to ever say though… “Thank you Bridget, for throwing such amazing parties!” I mean… THAT should be easy to say right? And she does throw amazing parties, she’s gifted, that beautiful woman… but she’s married to Danny, and I can’t even bring myself to look at him much, let alone say anything… I feel so god awefully STUPID and dumb and I have no reason to. I should at least be able to say Thank You. Okay? Okay ME? work on it me… (I lecture myself) I MEAN REALLY. I also tuck my skeleton lizard tattoo deeply below my shirt so that it isn’t accidentally seen… it will be only a matter of time, but for now, I build a reliable recognition first… “Oh hey Danny. You have those same tattoos on your leg? Weird!” I don’t plan on it getting there.
But seriously, Boss is so much easier to hang out with, and talk to. I mean he was just here in my house not but 30 minutes ago talking Sizzle reel and updating me on his day today with the future investors-to-be hopefully. And his wife, sweet sweet wife… I did her hair the other day, I just love her so much! She is such a dog person and so am I! We get along so well…
Anyway, I better get going, time to get ready for some ManiaTV! people lovin time! My sweet Lala is going to be there, and it’s like seeing a piece of my soul in person when I’m with her! I hope she feels well enough to make it, I know she has a cold… and I haven’t even seen her in almost three months!! FUCK… she lives 12 miles away too.
Well, assuming I still have friends who read, after not blogging for ever! I’m sorry. There are many new things Buzzine on the horizon, and many angry nights, happy nights, lonely nights etc. etc. and honestly I forget, make an excuse to not have time, and then it’s 3 weeks later.
It’s been a tough month. I’ve learned how the circle of life can help and empower you.
My sweet sweet grandmother passed away, and I went to Colorado for a quick visit. I am not going to go into all the gorey details of family and new beginnings too much… but just know she was pretty much the best grandma EVER.
Like, seriously.
She left her family with not much but enough for her grandkids to maybe buy a new computer and camera and not be so stressed about living off funemployment. It may be just what Puzzle and I need to get us over the difficult hump before Buzzine gets funding.
If you visit the Buzzine site now, it’s a rich man’s hobbie (and believe me, he’s not even remotely rich) and looks like crap. I’d like to update you with the current adventures of all things Buzzine.
Puzzle, Culver City friend and wife and I drove to NAB to get our gear heads on and talk bout what we may want to stock up on when Buzzine gets funding. Puzzle and I decided we couldn’t wait for Buzzine to get funding, and used our own, and took the new opportunity to invest in our future a bit, in the form of a business. There are many gigs out here looking for front to back Canon 5D Mark II shooter/editors, and we can officially say WE are now those people who can provide this service.
This camera is a heavy beauty of glamourous love. It shoots full chip HD, and has the sleek body of a DSLR. The lens that came with the package (for $200 less) is so magnificent (24-104 at 1:4) that we’re truly in love with her whole self.
Puzzle and I were able to snag her in time for the Iron Man 2 Red Carpet Premiere that took place this former Monday. His analogy for using this camera on the red carpet, after being used to using a Panasonic DVX, was that it was like taking an Uzi to a quick draw. A LOT of gun! At 21 megapixel, the Canon is a full chip deliciousness and is sneaking its way into the mainstream PROFESSIONAL field without you evening knowing it. Some fun facts: The season premiere of HOUSE was shot on this camera. The intros/outros/bumpers and pre shot scenes on SNL are shot using this camera… oh and her ISO… goes up to 6400 for some AMAZING low light capabilities. Uh… no lights required pretty much. She’s better than a Red camera too, btw… like a lot better. OH and very affordable, I might add… for her gusto, and her capabilities, there are major feature film cameras out there for a $30k or more that can do what this kid can do for $3k. All you need is the right lens! Oh and you can rent those too!
I have yet to really use this beast of love, and her learning curve is well above that of my former love (and always first love) Nikon D80, and since the Canon also shoots full 1080 HD, and can instantly switch over to scrumptious still photographs all in a single motion. Puzzle got a real good dip into the land of professional 5D world right on the red carpet. The old guys carrying their giant TAPE format (booooo!) cameras over their shoulders starred at him with awe as he held his sheer lovely little ninja camera and shot much better quality photos, could sneak into bustling crowds of press, and get his shot wham and bam.
Now, for your nerds out there, the monopod was not nearly enough to really handle this Uzi. She really needs a Zacuto rig, and a Z Finder to really make things happen… those are on the future wish list.
We gotta earn some money back with this BABY first!
Check out the Iron Man video! I just finished cutting it this afternoon, and it’s a good first try at what we’re going to be capable of knocking out…
Philip writes, “Shot over a couple of nights, taking the 5dmk2 out on the streets and getting shots of the inhabitants and visitors. No lighting, no grading. This is what came out of the camera image wise. 3 shots use smoothcam including opening shot for stylised look, edited in 30p converted to 24p in final cut studio 2. All handheld and helped by using the Z-Finder from Zacuto to give the camera a proper viewfinder and improve stability.”
That second one is what we have to work up to… and even more so… if you look into Philip Bloom further, you’ll see he is like the MASTER of everything 5D, and a master cinematographer. He is our hero. He’s also a super SWELL guy and follows me on Twitter.
Thanks Philip for your amazing inspiration! You’re super ninja kick ass awesome.
A steep curve, but lots of fun and many many movies to come. For one, I edited this in a 4×3 with letterbox environment, and the file came in at H264 1080, so I could have made this export/posted video look MUCH better… but this computer is on its last leg, and that takes TIME, and I’ve already got an export done because it’s currently on the homepage at Buzzine.com, so there you have it. The new Buzzine that is getting ready to launch is going to have an AMAZING player that looks like BAD ASS and stuff. None of this shitty 400×300 on the home page, where you have to Squint to see things, I’m talking like BIG beautiful video. You’ll see… oh, you’ll see.
Holy Moly have we had visitors!!! And more to come! I feel so blessed and lucky that we can move away and still be able to see our friends. It’s been great getting to show them around our big city. Puzzle and I don’t get out much other than our common walk through Hollywoodland, but having visitors has given us great excuses to experience our lovely city from the eye of the newbie.
And I’ve had terrible luck with my photos!! Losing them left and right. I just now… just NOW plugged in my camera to dump the recently full cards and format them for web, for you… and fuck if one of the cards decided it wasn’t fomatted. OH REALLY? Weren’t you just FULL? So, of course all those visits I was just telling you about…
FML.
That’s it Computer and Camera. You’re going DOWN. Both of you have been giving me problems, and now I’m just trying to tell these people a nice story, and again, you’re interfering with my everyday life. As soon as I can… Nikon is History, I’m getting a Canon 5D MarkII (oh yeah baby) and an iMac, and saying goodbye to the G5. It’s been good but now you’re old and senile and causing problems and creating an unreliable atmosphere.
Well, an update on the stupid card, it shows its full but wants to be reformatted, so the photos are there, just not reading… story of my life.
Above you will see the sweet SMaile enjoying a trip to the Hollywood park! It’s the closest park to Puzzle, Percy and me, and right below the sign, so it’s fun to take people there, especially if they have a dog or a kid. This was right after BFF and Family arrived from their long driving journey! It was a good way to get used to each other and stretch legs and prepare for a nice meal on the Boss’ deck.
Drain-the-Main-Brain
A little Vanity Fair style fun! The 5D MarkII Twins (is that what I’m nicknaming you, really? for the blog?) are thinking of moving out here in October, so they came to see what it was all about. Again, we had another dinner on Boss’ deck and then somehow ended up in the bathtub together preforming theatrically! Boss’ wife snapped the photo of us four in the tub.
Here are a couple shots of Singer before he took off. You’re getting the nickname, Singer… yeah, I know I know. These were taken the end of February. Singer is off doing WWOOF and I am SO PROUD of him!! I miss him so much, but I know he’s getting some amazing zen time. The sleepy headed one is about 5am, and right before he took off and left to Hawaii.
If you want to watch the Oscars, I recommend not doing it at Danny’s house. He likes to fast forward a LOT and I think the 3 hour recording was viewed in an hour or less.
But that was how the evening ended…
Culver City friend and Wife got to come! It was so great having them there! Buzzine is really starting to rock and roll, and business is getting conducted. I am officially now the Art Director and senior video editor. This means I get to talk business and go to fancy parties. But more on that later.
Boss had geared up with lists for us to help him with including doing the shopping and making some preliminaries like sauces, dressings and marinating endives. I didn’t know what an endive was until yesterday. With our help and with the wonderful help of the ElfondaMan’s staff, and a few others, Boss catered and BBQ’d for 21 people! Oh the bordelaise sauce for the beef was the best in my opinion! Boss’ wife did it! Puzzle and I were in charge of the appetizer which was a seared ahi tuna (sushi grade) sliced upon a bed of japanese soy dressing glazed with a side of avocado slices and soy/wasabi mayo sauce dripped upon the top. Fucking A that was good. I’m glad we made that part, it was a hit.
There was one round of doggie dancing. After Boss left his Tom’s and went to the congo’s (not in the video but to the left of the shot), I took up on some Tom action and had some mallet fun with the others! Woo hoo! If you don’t remember from a previous post story, the Doggie Dance is when requested upon the child spawn of Elfondaman, asks for “doggie dance” which means the kids go up below the giant screen (in front of the drums and couches/bean bags) to a stage area (where the band was at the Christmas party) and people interested in helping the circle, grab a drum.
Wandering through the house, showing the Culver Citians around our favorite shrunken heads, babies head’s in jars and other various trinkets, I found a book on the coffee table that read, “Cuban Party 2009″ which had all the leftover photos from the photographer from the Christmas party. It was so fun to see them, and Puzzle and I had about 3 other photos we left there (and some of which I don’t even remember taking), among all the other fun people that showed up and did the same. I’m officially in a photo album! Super sweet man.
Dessert was held before the “viewing” of the Oscars, which consisted of Danny carrying a tray of home made brownies piled on top of each other with a bunch of tall candles burning. Everyone sang, and then got in the line for the brownies and all the fixins of every smoked nut, 3 different kinds of ice cream and fresh strawberries, oh and three different kinds of topping sauce, and whip cream sides you can imagine. Danny doesn’t like chocolate, but he does love whip cream. As a rule, if your last name begins with Elf, you’re quite fond of sweets, more so than others.
Last Sunday we went to ElfMum’s house to play some Scrabble. She has been looking to have a Scrabble night for some time now. Our friend Josh (who writes for Buzzine and came here from Ohio 3 months before us) who is our age and new to LA came too. The three of us (Puzzle and I) tried to beat ElfMum but it didn’t happen. She is an emmy winning writer, a former LA literary school teacher… and well… I almost beat her… almost. But she had the greatest time and we’ll be doing it again soon. My favorite part was ElfMum’s pin she had on her shirt… OH and the GREATEST painting I’ve ever seen in my entire life. See if you can spot it in any of these photos.
